Binance Pay Alternative: An Honest Settlematic Comparison

Binance Pay is free for crypto payments but locked inside the Binance ecosystem and custodial. Compare custody, reach and fit against non-custodial Settlematic.

Compare custody models

  1. Custodial processors hold keys and convert.
  2. Non-custodial settlement binds addresses to your wallet.
  3. Use the table below for the attribute-level split.

TL;DR

Binance Pay charges 0% on crypto merchant payments but requires customers to be inside the Binance ecosystem, is custodial, and charges 0.80% (capped at $5) on merchant payouts. Settlematic is open and non-custodial — any wallet can pay an address bound to yours at issuance — for a flat subscription. If your customers are Binance users, Binance Pay wins on price; otherwise Settlematic wins on reach and custody.

Short answer: Binance Pay is free for crypto merchant payments (0% transaction fee) but it runs inside the Binance ecosystem — payer and merchant generally need Binance accounts — it is custodial, and it charges 0.80% (capped at USD 5) on merchant payouts. Settlematic is open and non-custodial: any external wallet can pay a deposit address bound to your own wallet at issuance, for a flat subscription. If your customers already use Binance, Binance Pay is unbeatable on price; otherwise Settlematic wins on reach and custody.

We build Settlematic, so read this as an informed but interested comparison. Binance Pay figures below are sourced to Binance's own fee schedule and site, verified 7 September 2026. Where Binance Pay is the better choice, we say so.

The ecosystem-lock-in trade-off

Binance Pay's zero-fee, instant experience works because it settles between Binance accounts — no on-chain confirmation wait, no network fee, no external wallet. That is genuinely excellent when both sides are Binance users. The flip side is a closed loop: your customers effectively need a verified Binance account, and your funds sit inside Binance's custody until you withdraw. Reviews describe it plainly as a custodial model where funds stay in the Binance ecosystem until withdrawal.

Settlematic is the opposite shape. On a non-custodial crypto payment gateway, each deposit address is cryptographically bound at issuance to a wallet you control, and any external wallet on the supported chain can pay it. No customer account with us or any exchange is required, and no balance ever sits with Settlematic. See Gateway.

Fees: 0% is not the whole story

Binance's merchant fee schedule lists $0 establishment, $0 wallet maintenance, and $0 on user-to-user Binance Pay sends. But merchant payouts (disbursements) are charged at 0.80% of the amount, capped at USD 5 per transaction, effective 1 December 2024, and merchant discount rates (MDR) are variable and set per Merchant Agreement. So the headline 0% covers the payment, not necessarily moving money out.

Settlematic charges a flat subscription — Collect from $20/month, Gateway on Pro from $49/month, with a 7-day trial and free sandbox — and no percentage of volume. Network fees are paid on-chain by the sender. See pricing.

UAE and ecosystem considerations

If you operate in the UAE, be precise about scope. Onshore mainland retail payments for goods and services may only use CBUAE-approved Dirham Payment Tokens; Bitcoin, Ether, USDT, USDC and other foreign tokens are not approved for general onshore retail. Neither Binance Pay's crypto rails nor Settlematic's stablecoin settlement fits onshore AED retail. Settlematic's honest fit is UAE free-zone (ADGM/DIFC), B2B, cross-border and Web3 flows — not onshore mainland retail.

The broader ecosystem point applies everywhere: Binance Pay concentrates your payments, custody and reach inside a single exchange. That is convenient and cheap while it suits you, and a concentration risk if your customer base is not Binance-centric or your treasury policy avoids leaving funds on an exchange.

Where Binance Pay wins

  • Your customers are Binance users. Zero fees and instant settlement inside the ecosystem is hard to beat.
  • You want the lowest possible cost on payments. 0% on crypto merchant payments is cheaper than any subscription.
  • You want instant, gas-free transfers. Off-chain settlement between Binance accounts avoids network fees and confirmation waits entirely.
  • You value the reach of a 300M+ user base you can prompt to pay via QR in seconds.

Where Settlematic wins: it is open (any wallet pays, no exchange account required), non-custodial (no funds sit with a third party, no payout fee to extract them), and neutral to any single exchange. If your customers are not all on Binance, or you will not hold revenue on an exchange, that is decisive.

The bottom line

Pick Binance Pay if your customers live inside the Binance ecosystem and you want zero-fee, instant crypto payments — accepting custody and lock-in as the trade. Pick Settlematic if you need to accept payment from any wallet, keep funds custody-free in wallets you control, and avoid both a payout fee and dependence on one exchange.
